Due to this lack of evidence, the American Dental Association has removed the code for gingival curettage from the fourth edition of Current Dental Terminology (CDT-4). Furthermore, the American Academy of Periodontology, in its Guidelines for Periodontal Therapy, does not include gingival curettage as a recommended method of treatment.
