Frequently Asked Questions

I have an upcoming appointment, is it cancelled?
At the moment, all appointments up to May 15th, 2020 have been cancelled.

When will my appointment be re-scheduled?
As more information becomes available, our team at Beaumont Orthodontics will reach out to you over the coming weeks to re-schedule your appointment.

I have an orthodontic emergency, what should I do?
For orthodontic emergencies contact the office at (780) 929-3425 or (780) 73-SMILE or email us at [email protected]. Our team and doctors will be able to answer your questions and guide you through your emergency to find a suitable solution remotely or book an appointment for you in case your emergency cannot be handled remotely. Please be aware that all dental clinics are mandated by the Alberta Dental Association and College not to see any of our patients unless there is infection, swelling or severe pain involved.

Why do orthodontic offices need to be closed?
Due to nature of the COVID-19 pandemic and the sweeping recommendations of numerous health and government officials, we must close our doors to all elective procedures for the safety of our community. Elective procedures are defined as any procedure that does not involve treating a medical or dental emergency.

How should I proceed if I am wearing braces or an appliance?
If you have been instructed to wear elastics, please wear them at nighttime only, to avoid over corrections of the bite. If you are unsure you can email us pictures of your teeth and we will advise you. We will be able to advance your treatment once we reopen.

How should I proceed if I am wearing Invisalign aligners?
f you are currently changing your aligners every 7 days, we ask that you increase your aligner wear and change to a 14-day per aligner rotation. When you get to your last aligner please continue to wear it as a retainer, in the evenings and nighttime only. The last aligner will not be moving the teeth, but will help prevent any shifting of the teeth. If you are wearing elastics with your aligners, please wear them at nighttime only as well. Keep your aligners clean and avoid all drinks other than water while wearing them. When our office reopens, we will take a new digital scan of your teeth and order new aligners. Always remember to wash your hands before placing and removing your aligners or elastics.

What should I do if I am scheduled to start treatment soon?
It’s always exciting when you’re about to start your orthodontic treatment, and we are equally excited about this big step. We look forward to seeing you as soon as we are able to open the clinic again. We are hopeful that this mandated closure will be short. When this situation has stabilized, we are going be ready for you, and will call you to book you in.

Update – Orthodontic Patients at Beaumont Orthodontics – COVID19 Response

Dear Valued Patients at Beaumont Orthodontics,

We trust that you and your families are staying healthy and safe. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we regret to inform you that will not be able to open our clinic to regular appointments again on April 15th, 2020 as we originally planned.

Our current plan is to resume our normal schedule as soon as we can, but given the uncertainty of the situation we do not have an exact date to inform you of. Despite having the clinic closed to regular appointments, we would like you to know that we are still here for you and your families in case you have any questions or any emergencies. You are welcomed to contact the office at (780) 929-3425 or (780) 73-SMILE or email us at [email protected].

We would like to instruct our patients in active treatment to follow to the following instructions; please refer to our Frequently Asked Questions for further instructions:

PATIENTS WITH INVISALIGN: If you are currently changing your aligners every 7 days, we ask that you move to a 14-day rotation. When you get to your last aligner please continue to wear it as a retainer, in the evenings and nighttime only. The last aligner will not be moving the teeth, but will help prevent any shifting of the teeth. If you are wearing elastics with your aligners, please wear them at nighttime only as well.

PATIENTS WITH ORTHODONTIC APPLIANCES (PALATAL EXPANDERS): Stop turning the appliance until your next appointment has been scheduled or you have been given further instructions.

PATIENTS WITH BRACES: If you have been instructed to wear elastics, please wear them at nighttime only as to avoid over corrections of the bite. If you are unsure you can email us pictures of your teeth and we will advise you.

We are monitoring the situation daily, and once we have a little more certainty of our re-opening date, we will let you know as soon as possible.

Wishing you and your families continued health,
Beaumont Orthodontics Team

Important Notice – Orthodontic Patients at Beaumont Orthodontics – COVID19 Response

Dear Valued Patients at Beaumont Orthodontics,

At Beaumont Orthodontics, the safety of our patients, their family, our team and the community are our top priority. In light of the COVID-19 situation, we have made the decision to temporarily close our clinics for non-emergency appointments until April 1. This decision is in alignment with what the Alberta Dental Association and college is recommending. We will continue to communicate with you if this date changes. As you know this is a fluid situation, but our hope is to resume our normal schedule as soon as we can. If we decide to change the length of the temporary closure, we will let you know as soon as possible. Also, some patients have expressed concerns over the COVID-19 media release regarding the Pacific Dental Conference in Vancouver. We would like to confirm that none of our team members attended the conference this year.

We are still here for you and your families in case you have any questions or any emergencies, you will be able to contact the office at (780) 929-3425 or (780) 73-SMILE, or email us at [email protected]. Our staff and specialists will be able to answer your questions and guide you through your emergency and find a suitable solution remotely, or book an appointment for you in case of any orthodontic emergency.

Also, we are launching a program to help families in our community who have older members or higher-risk people (this includes people who have serious chronic medical conditions and/or are immunocompromised). We aim to help these families with getting the supplies they need including groceries and other necessary supplies without having to leave their homes. If you know anyone who can benefit from this, please let us know.

Our goal is to support healthy patients and a healthy team and a safe workplace during a challenging time of our country. Please refer to the recent short video on our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/BeaumontOrtho) regarding some important orthodontic instructions during the clinic temporary closure.

We are grateful for your patience and understanding and look forward to continuing to serve you and your families.
